Restaurant Yara: Haute Cuisine in the Marina
In the first line of the sea in the southwest of Mallorca, Carinthian chef Simon Petutschnig serves up fine Asian-Mediterranean cuisine. Fancy a little taste? The menu features delicacies such as sea bass with miso hollandaise and wakame cream, fried squid with lime and togarshi, or a spicy tuna roll with chili mayonnaise, avocado and the Japanese fish roe tobiko.
Skillfully combined - and that's no coincidence. Petutschnig has been a lover of Japanese cuisine for years and sometimes spends an entire month in Japan to learn even more about the refined art of cooking in the country. And because his heart has also been beating for the Mediterranean for years, the man in his mid-forties combines the best of both worlds at the stove.
"I only cook what I like myself"
"In the meantime, I have lived in the Mediterranean region longer than in my home country of Austria," Simon Petutschnig tells us. "And only cook and serve what I like myself. My favorites are simply Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine. Only the best quality ingredients go into pots, pans or on the Robata grill that we have at Restaurant Yara."
Whenever possible, he also uses regional and sustainably produced products, processing each one with "respect, care and, of course, experience," as he says himself. "Ultimately, I want to take our guests on a culinary journey that they will remember for a long time!"
Yara's sister: Restaurant Fera in Palma
The grill restaurant Yara is not the first gourmet eatery on Mallorca that the Swiss entrepreneur couple Sheela and Ivan Levy run together with Simon Petutschnig. Five years ago, the successful trio had already opened the gourmet temple Fera in Palma's historic old town and within a short time made it a culinary hotspot in the Mediterranean.
Gourmets from all over the world
And Yara is already the talk of the town. At any rate, the gourmets drawn to the restaurant with its large, inviting terrace and view of flashing chrome, million-dollar luxury yachts on the seafront are international. They come from all over the world, from Brazil and Germany, from the USA, Mexico and Spain, from Great Britain, Norway and Switzerland.
And of course from "next door", from Mallorca and its sister islands. Just a few weeks after its opening, Yara has become a culinary "place to be" on Mallorca. Thanks to its intoxicating cuisine, where sharing dishes is also expressly encouraged, and the extraordinary location.
Harmony also in the interiors
Because the interior design of the Yara restaurant also has style. Sheela Leya, interior designer and co-owner, has designed it with fine feeling according to Feng Shui criteria. Selected furniture, natural fabrics and lush plants characterize the harmonious flair. Even the art on the walls was created especially for the restaurant: The large-format eye-catching paintings are by Menorcan artist Antoni Pedraza, who was inspired by the sea grass Posidonia for his work. A beautiful connection to the Mediterranean Sea right outside the restaurant door.
