The 10 most beautiful beaches of Mallorca
Mallorca's coastline is 550 km long and countless beaches and bays invite you to take a refreshing dip in the turquoise sea.
The editorial staff of mallorca.com has looked around on the favorite island of the Germans and found the 10 most beautiful beaches of the Balearic island for you. Some are hidden in small rocky coves, others stretch for miles along the sea.
Platja de Muro - unique location
Five and a half kilometers of the finest sand and a turquoise sea make Platja de Muro on the north coast of Majorca one of the most beautiful beaches on the Balearic island. The beach extends directly in front of the nature reserve S'Albufera in the bay of Alcúdia on Mallorca's north coast. The dune landscape in the hinterland is bordered by pine groves and umbrellas and sunbeds are rented on site. Entertainment is provided by the water and fun sports on offer. Beach volleyball nets are strung along the beach, and Mallorca windsurfers and banana boats cavort on the water. Live music for dinner is offered by the "chill-out restaurant La Playa" and the elevated The 10 best beach clubs convince with a magnificent view of the sea.
Cala Torta - Bathing in a nature reserve
Embedded in a mountainous landscape with pine forests lies the bathing bay Cala Torta on Mallorca on the northeast coast in the northeast of Mallorca. The wide sandy beach near Cala Ratjada in Majorca on the northeast coast stretches along the coast for 130 meters. The way to Cala Torta leads on a bumpy road through a nature reserve. You don't have to take food with you, because a chiringuito provides you with snacks and drinks. There is no beach chair or umbrella rental. The turquoise water is crystal clear. However, you should not swim too far out, as strong currents can become a danger.
Cala Sa Nau - insider tip on the east coast
Framed by light green pine forests and jagged rocky cliffs with caves, the small bay Cala Sa Nau is located in Mallorca on the southeast coast on the east coast of Mallorca. Hardly any tourists stray into the picturesque bay with its sandy beach barely 40 meters long. The Mediterranean ambience is unique, even if there is no view of the open sea. Cala Sa Nau can be reached by car via unpaved roads, where parking is very limited. There is a small beach bar on site and meanwhile umbrellas and deck chairs are for rent.
Platja Es Trenc - family-friendly sandy beach
In the far south of Mallorca, Platja Es Trenc on Mallorca's south coast is a seven-kilometer-long sandy beach that many island visitors describe as the most beautiful on the Balearic island. Comparisons with the Caribbean are quite appropriate, even if no coconut trees line the shore areas. Es Trenc is located in the middle of a nature reserve and is bordered in the hinterland by an extensive dune landscape. Straw umbrellas and sunbeds are for rent at some sections, and there are a handful of beach bars at Ses Covetes. The fine sandy beach slopes gently into the sea and is particularly family-friendly. For fans of nude bathing there are nudist beaches for nude bathing on the island of Mallorca.
Cala Agulla - paradisiacal bay
Cala Agulla in Mallorca on the northeast coast is located on the northeast coast of Mallorca in the municipality of Capdepera. The paradisiacal bay consists of light sandy beach and has some rocky sections to offer. The bathing paradise is framed by wooded hills. Due to its location in a nature reserve, there is no development in the hinterland. In summer, Cala Agulla quickly becomes crowded. One of the reasons for this is the easy accessibility by car. The bay is signposted on the road from Capdepera to Cala Ratjada on Mallorca's northeast coast, and a large parking lot is close to the beach. On site you can rent surfboards, pedal boats and water skis.
Cala Figuera - rugged beauty
In the far north of Mallorca, Cala Figuera on Mallorca 's southeast coast is a rugged beauty on the Cap Formentor peninsula on Mallorca's north coast. The small bay is framed by rugged cliffs and there is no sand. The beach is a mixture of fine and coarse pebbles. On the rocky walls, a colorful iridescent underwater world invites you to snorkel in Mallorca. Those who come to dive in Mallorca in Cala Figuera should arrive by boat, because the way down to the stone beach leads through rugged cliffs and pointed rocks. You have a magnificent view of the rocky north coast of Mallorca from the surrounding cliffs. In summer it can get crowded at Cala Figuera, but in the off-season you will always find a free spot on the surrounding rocky plateaus.
Cala Varques - quiet beach paradise
Between Porto Cristo on Mallorca on the southeast coast and Cales de Mallorca lies Cala Varques on Mallorca on the southeast coast on the east coast of the Balearic island. With a length of 90 meters, the bay is not one of the largest on the island, but the picturesque surroundings make the beach one of the most beautiful in Mallorca. Like an ancient amphitheater, the dark rock encloses the bay. Behind the 50 m wide, white sandy beach, a pine forest and a grotto adjoin. In a side bay, nudism is practiced and tolerated in Mallorca and now and then you can observe free climbers in the cliffs.
Sa Calobra - between rugged cliffs
Framed by steeply rising cliffs, the small bay of Sa Calobra on Mallorca is located on the west coast on the Tramuntana coast of Mallorca. The view from the water side is particularly impressive. Sa Calobra is a fissure between two cliffs through which the Torrent de Pareis stream flows into the Mediterranean Sea in winter. A freak of nature is the 30 m long sand / pebble beach, which invites you to swim and snorkel after the arduous journey. The approach by car is via a spectacular serpentine road, which overcomes a difference in altitude of about 800 meters. Through a rock tunnel you finally reach the bay on foot.
Cala Llombards - white sand and pine trees
At the mouth of the Son Amer torrent into the Mediterranean Sea, Cala Llombards is located on Mallorca 's southeast coast. The playa is about 150 m long and up to 50 m wide. White as snow, the sand sparkles in the bright sunlight. The sand extends into a shady pine grove that borders the bathing bay in the hinterland. Lively rhythms emanate from the loudspeakers of the beach bar, and locals and tourists enjoy a long drink or a cool beer under shady umbrellas. In the high season, sun beds and umbrellas are rented on site.
Cala Pi - the romantic sandy bay
Largely spared from mass tourism is the romantic sandy bay of Cala Pi on Mallorca on the south coast of Mallorca's southwest coast. The 150 m long sandy beach extends at the end of a fjord-like inlet. Overgrown rocks frame the bay and the water shines emerald green and turquoise blue in the sunshine. Sun loungers and umbrellas are rented in the high season, and there is no catering. Small restaurants and cafes can only be found in the village of the same name, which can be reached via a steep staircase. The sheltered location of Cala Pi attracts many recreational captains, whose white yachts rock on the water on warm summer days.
