Palma Aquarium – underwater world of colour in the capital of the island
Palma Aquarium offers colourful underwater scenery and extensive roof gardens. Over 8,000 inhabitants live in the 55 seawater pools in the tropical and subtropical climatic zones.
Palma Aquarium - tourist magnet by Playa de Palma
Palma Aquarium is an attraction right beside the Playa de Palma beach in Palma de Mallorca , the island's capital which attracts countless visitors year after year. Expect to be thoroughly entertained by the on-site amusement park, aquarium and research station. The complex covers an area of more than four hectares and takes you into the iridescent and colourful underwater world of what lies beneath the ocean. Sharks, sea turtles and stingrays are among the 8000 sea creatures to be found at Palma Aquarium.
One of the most Events in Mallorca for visitors is shark-feeding time where the sharks feast on frozen or fresh fish. An attraction specifically designed for children is the so-called "Good Night Shark Action" experience, where the little ones can spend a night in front of the panoramic window of the giant shark pond - however this beautiful and slightly frightening experience needs to be booked in advance.
Jungle atmosphere on the roof
You will experience a real jungle atmosphere during a visit to the roof garden at Palma Aquarium with an ambience modelled on the Amazon tropical rain forest. The main attraction is a seven-metre-high artificial waterfall, where the water cascades into a small lake. Outside, a Mediterranean garden with an abundance of olive trees, vines and oleander bushes covers an area of over 40,000 m giving the visitor a wonderful overview of the plant life of Mallorca.
The pond is full of carp and you can relax on one of the many benches against the backdrop of lakes, ponds, waterfalls and even canals. Children will look forward to an adventure playground with a pirate ship and several dining options provide for some creature comforts. The restaurants offer a cross-section of Mallorcan cuisine. The journey to Palma Aquarium can either be done by bus from Palma de Mallorca or by Mobile in Mallorca taking the Platja de Palma exit.
